Ugly Boy Flutes
New kids are slowly but surely coming to life! Above is an F#4 long birdbeak in heavily figured Myrtlewood from Oregon. The block is a deep brown Black Walnut, which compliments the Myrtle very well. Note the crossed ‘wing tips’ on the end of the block. It comes with a dowel plug that sits at the end of the bird beak to stop any chance of it cracking/breaking, making it safe for travel. NEW FLUTES to the left and above are now posted in the Ugly Boy section. More coming very soon as I circumnavigate ‘Life’! :-) The cold weather has long said goodbye, so I can get to more outdoor sanding. Up next will be an A4 Koa with a Pepperwood long sweeptail bird, and another A4 Koa with artwork on it. A Mahogany B3 with EZ reach holes won’t be too far behind, as well as some Shadow Hawks as I’m out at the moment. My current plan is to make custom designed blocks for the Wenge and one of the Koa flutes. That Koa will incorporate an inlaid stylized turtle in Malachite and Turquoise, and I’m upping the game for a new more intricate custom block of a launching porpoise. I have not yet decided what to carve into the foot of the closed-end dark Poplar one, though. Thoughts, anyone? _____________________________________________________________ I’m doing my best to stay on top of the MOUNTAINOUS emails full of too much spam, but if you don’t hear from me in a timely manner please gently nudge me again.
